Committed advocate for economic and industry growth
The Western Canada Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association consists of four Western Canada roadbuilder associations: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Our industry builds the core infrastructure that moves people to jobs and goods to market, provides critical public services such as water and wastewater infrastructure and protects communities, people and businesses through water-controls structures.
Together, we advocate regionally and federally for strategic transportation infrastructure investment plans to ensure trade – more than 65% of Canada’s economy – moves efficiently and seamlessly. The WCR&HCA supports the free, unfettered movement of goods, labour and services across provincial boundaries.

Canada’s ‘economic healthcare’ program
Strategic, sustained investment in transportation infrastructure paves the way to economic growth.
Seamless transportation infrastructure efficiently moves people to jobs and goods to market – trade is the heart of Canada’s economy, supporting 65% of GDP. Trade-enabling infrastructure assets – highways, corridors, inland and border ports – are the arteries that keep the heart pumping.
Without economic growth, the discussions about adequate funding for healthcare, education or other social services are moot.
“There is the infrastructure we want like parks and hockey rinks, the infrastructure we need like schools and hospitals and then there is the infrastructure that pays for these things and that is trade infrastructure.”
